At Tabernacle Baptist Church (Tabs), we long to see people of all ages discovering life in Jesus and growing as wholehearted followers of Him. We believe children and young people are not simply the future of the church, they are a vital part of the church today.

Tabs is a warm, growing, expectant church family in the coastal town of Penarth, South Wales. We are excited to be seeking a gifted, spiritually mature Children, Youth, and Families Worker to help us invest deeply in the next generation.

We have a growing youth ministry, with more than twenty young people attending church each week, with many actively serving in church life. Over seventy children and young people regularly attend our Friday night ministries, Thrive and Thrive Plus.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves Jesus, enjoys people, and has a passion to help children, young people and families grow in faith, confidence and belonging.

The Role

The successful applicant will lead and develop ministry among children, young people and families helping them to:

  • encounter Jesus personally
  • grow as disciples
  • belong within the life of the church and
  • share faith confidently in everyday life.

The role combines hands-on ministry with leadership and vision. We are looking for someone who can teach God’s word to children and youth in an engaging and contemporary way, whilst also building teams, encouraging volunteers and developing strong relationships with families and the wider community.

Alongside existing ministries, there will be exciting opportunities to:

  • strengthen and develop our current children’s and youth work
  • build pathways from children’s ministry into youth and young adulthood
  • encourage stronger connections between generations
  • develop links with local schools and the wider community
  • foster relationships with families coming into regular contact with the church and
  • help us to shape the next chapter of ministry at Tabs.
