w/c 23rd Nov: Lord, Don’t Pass Us By – Week 8: Filled to the full

This week we will be focusing on asking God to fill us with his love to the point of overflowing. Pray that we would be so filled with the love of god that it would be beyond what we can understand or comprehend.

Ephesians 3:19 says, “and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”

This one verse captures a longing that sits at the centre of every believer’s heart: to know—deeply, personally, and continually—the love Christ pours out, a love so vast our minds can’t fully grasp it, yet our spirits can experience it.

To be filled with God’s love is more than an emotion. It is a transformation. His love steadies anxious thoughts, softens hardened places, and reminds us that we are never alone. It becomes the lens through which we see ourselves, others, and every situation we face.

But Paul isn’t simply describing something to admire—he’s inviting us into something to pray for. God’s love is not something we achieve through effort; it is something we receive through surrender. As we open our hearts in prayer, asking Him to make His love real to us, God delights in answering.

w/c 16th Nov: Lord, Don’t Pass Us By – Week 7: Grasping God’s love

“And I pray that you may power….to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ”

Over recent weeks, we’ve journeyed together in prayer through Eph 3:14-21, first looking in, asked God to renew and restore us, then looking up (weeks 4-6), fixing our eyes on Jesus and placing Him at the centre. Now we also look out. This week we pray that we may grasp more of Christ’s love such that it will overflow to the world around us.

The dictionary describes grasp as “to take hold of something firmly”. We pray for ourselves and for our church, that each of us would firmly take hold of (grasp), and grow in our knowledge and experience of God’s love.

God’s love is beyond our comprehension or understanding. We will never fully appreciate or understand it, yet despite this, we pray that each of us may know more of it. It is a love that finds its greatest fulfilment at the cross.

We can increasing grasp God’s love we seek to know more of Jesus. The Holy Spirit enables us to grow in our “grasping” of God’s love as we immerse ourselves in His word, in time spent in prayer and as we seek to live our lives in obedience to God.

As we pray this week, we thank and worship God for his unconditional love for each of us. We ask God to fill us daily with more of his love for our family, friends and community. In addition, we pause and reflect on how God is leading us to display this indescribable love to Penarth

Please do email any reflections arising out of the prayer period to prayerperiod@tabspenarth.org.uk or feel free to add them to the prayer board in the church.

So this week:

  • Praise God his unconditional love for you. Praise him for the cross where this love was demonstrated for each of us.
  • Pray you would increasingly know and understand more of God’s love for you.
  • Pray as a church, we would be filled with God’s love and known as people who are characterised by God’s love
  • Ask God to show us where He is already working and how we can join Him in showing his love to our community.

w/c 9th Nov: Lord, Don’t Pass Us By – Week 6: Rooted and Established in Love

“…that you, being rooted and established in love…” – Ephesians 3:17b

Thanks for your continued prayers! Over recent weeks, we’ve journeyed together in prayer through Eph 3:14-21, first looking in (weeks 1-3), asking God to renew and restore us, then looking up (weeks 4-6), fixing our eyes on Jesus and placing Him at the centre. Now, as this middle section closes, we start looking out, we pray as those rooted (growing and anchored) and established (grounded and mature) in His love, ready for what He’ll do next.

St Paul reminds us that we are children of God, he doesn’t mean we are infants, but heirs – close family who have the authority and power second only to the King (Romans 8:16–17, 29; Galatians 4:7). We are also made in His image (Genesis 1:26) – not lifeless idols but Spirit-filled reflections of His character (2 Corinthians 3:18). We are given authority as ambassadors of His Kingdom, a position given to trusted people that represent the King in a foreign land.

So, this week we thank God for the deep security of being rooted in His love; we thank Him that we are established in firm ground – loved, chosen, and known; and we recognise the commission and authority we have in Jesus. This week as we reflect on what God is doing in the Quiet Revival, we begin to ask God where he would have us go, who he would have us speak to and what he would have us do.

As you pray – please do email your reflections to the church or add them to the prayer board in the church.

So this week:

  • Thankfulness: Give thanks that we are children, heirs, and image-bearers of God, rooted securely in His love.
  • Honesty: Ask God to reveal insecurities or fears that hold you back from trusting Him fully.
  • Confidence: Pray that we, as a church, would live boldly from our identity in Christ carrying His love into the world
  • Discernment: Ask God to show us where He is already working and how we can join Him – which people, causes, or places He is calling us to.
  • Outward Vision: Pray for a new revelation of how God would have us overflow His love into Penarth, bringing healing, hope, and quiet revival.

w/c 2nd Nov: Lord, Don’t Pass Us By – Week 5: Christ at the centre, knowing him more.

We continue praying about the Quiet Revival, rejoicing in stories of new life springing up across generations and in unexpected places. As we pray, our cry is: “Lord, don’t pass us by. Release Your Spirit here in Penarth.

This week the focus our of prayers continue to be on Eph 3 v17 “..so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith”. The more specific focus, however, is not just on Christ dwelling in us, but Christ being the centre of our lives.

Old testament writers often put the most important conclusions in the middle of the stories, which is foreign to us as we tend to put the conclusion at the end. This week is the conclusion of where our prayers have been leading. This conclusion is Jesus, and more specifically Jesus right at the centre of our lives. Then from this place ‘centred on Jesus’ we will see where he wants to lead us on during this exciting time. This is the final part of the foundation that we need. We must build on this cornerstone, the house God wants us to build, and the community engagement that God wants us to have for his sake.

When we increasingly put Jesus at the centre of all aspects of our lives, we will begin to be more like him, where that be through our thoughts, decisions, interactions or other areas.

Thank God for his working in and through your life, and the lives of others, and ask him to continue to use you as you endeavour to put him more central in your life.

Don’t Pass Us By – Week 4; Christ dwelling in us

We continue praying about the Quiet Revival, rejoicing in stories of new life springing up across generations and in unexpected places. As we pray, our cry is: “Lord, don’t pass us by. Release Your Spirit here in Penarth.

This week the focus our of prayers are Eph 3 v17 “..so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith”

Paul prays for believers to know the continual indwelling of Christ. This “indwelling” is the intimate, permanent, presence of Christ in a believer’s heart. This is something God has chosen, wants and desires, he longs to dwell in the centre of our minds, our wills, our whole life.

Thank and praise God that he longs to dwell and be central to all that we are and do. Thank him that this is true for us as individuals and as a church.

Our hearts should be a place where Christ is totally at home and settled. As we increasingly place our faith in Christ and surrender to him the things of ourselves, Christ will increasingly fill and dwell within our hearts.

Confess areas of your life where Christ does not yet dwell or where Christ is not central. Ask for the faith to increasingly surrender these areas of your life to him. Ask Christ to be central to all you do today.

As Christ increasingly dwells in us, we are transformed into his likeness such that Christ will overflow through us.

Praise God that as he dwells in our hearts, our lives will be changed to become more like him. Pray that as Christ dwells in us, his heart for our world will overflow through us bringing healing, hope and transformation to our community.

Lord, Don’t Pass Us By – Week 3: Strengthened from the Inside Out

We continue praying about the Quiet Revival, rejoicing in stories of new life springing up across generations and in unexpected places. As we pray, our cry is: “Lord, don’t pass us by. Release Your Spirit here in Penarth.”

This week, we focus on the second half of Ephesians 3:16: “…that He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being.” We’re reflecting on where God is working, how He is working, and what He is producing in us.

1. The Place: “Your inner being”

Paul reminds us that God works in the deepest parts of who we are – the control centre of our mind, will, and emotions. It’s like the holy of holies in the temple, or a royal throne room within our hearts. This is where God establishes faith, perseverance, and purpose. Like an underground spring, His Spirit floods hidden places, bringing renewal that rises from within and flows outward.

2. The Source: “Through His Spirit”

This renewal comes from a divine source – the Holy Spirit, the living presence of God within us. When we open our hearts to Him, we connect to an endless flow of life and grace. God’s Spirit breathes new life into what is dry, revives what has faded, and pours into us everything we need to carry God’s presence into the world.

3. The Result: “That He may strengthen you”

When the Spirit fills our deepest self, strength follows. It’s the kind of strength that heals, reinforces, and renews – not for pride or self-reliance, but for Christ’s kingdom purpose. We are strengthened to serve, support, and build others up. God’s power in us becomes living water, like that in Revelation 22 – flowing from the throne of God through the city, watering Eden trees that bear fruit in all seasons and whose leaves bring healing to the nations.

So this week…

  • Recognise areas in yourself, in our church, in our community where we have become dry or weak and need God’s living water and spirit strengthening
  • Confess the times we have not allowed God to fill us, or when we’ve not been there for others, for God, or for His church. Remember he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love.
  • Give thanks for the riches and abundance of Jehovah Jireh – and ask to be filled anew, ask to be given His Spirit anew. Ask that because of his Spirit dwelling within us, we would be like a fragment of Eden, bringing salt and light, bringing living water, bringing God’s strength to our community, in our individual and corporate (sometimes very challenging) circumstances.

Lord Don’t Pass Us By. Week 2: Praying from Abundance

This week, we continue to pray through our journey in Eph 3 crying out for God to move in our town, this time by reflecting on Paul’s words in v16a “I pray that out His glorious riches…”

Pause and for a moment and let wonder fill your heart. This is the God who created the entire universe and who holds every star in place. A God who sees every person, knows every story and loves without limit. This is a God whose generosity never runs dry. Gracious, compassionate and abounding in Love.

So this week we reflect on God’s riches and ask how we might use them for His Glory:

· Thank Him for material blessings.
For a roof that shelters you, a warm shower, a soft pillow, even the duvet that kept you warm last night. For the simple gifts that we so easily overlook – food on the table, clothes to wear, and the everyday goodness of His provision.

· Thank Him for family, friends, our church, and relationships.
For the people who make life rich – those who listen, who laugh with us, who share our burdens and joys. For our church family here at Tabs, and for the privilege of belonging to a community where we are known and loved.

· Thank Him for the spiritual abundance He’s given.
For grace that wipes away the past, Christ who died and rose, the Spirit that lives in us and transforms us. For the incredible privilege of being called God’s children, His bride, seated with Him in heavenly places – welcomed, chosen, and dearly loved.

Then out of a sense of gratitude for all this abundance, let God’s spirit lead you to see this blessing break out – for His kingdom to break out. Pray that we would be filled to overflowing and that His riches would flow through us, bringing hope, healing, and transformation to our community in all areas of God’s richness.

Finally, ask that God would inspire us with fresh wisdom and creativity, so we can steward His resources well. We pray from abundance, and for abundance, knowing He can do immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine.

Lord, Don’t Pass Us By. Our 9-Week Journey Begins: Week 1

We believe that when we pray, we invite the power of God to move in incredible ways. Prayer is about breakthrough but it’s mostly about drawing close to God, resting in His presence, and deepening our relationship with Him.

So that’s what we want to do as we begin our nine-week prayer journey under the banner “Lord, don’t pass us by.” We are using Eph 3:14-21 to guide us. This week we focus on Paul’s words in v14 – “I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name.”

So let’s start by dedicating ourselves, our church and our community to this season of prayer.

For you, that might mean:

· Reading the Quiet Revival report, and giving thanks and praise for what you read

· Pausing in quiet before God and simply being still in His presence. It could be thanking Him for His goodness in your life, for answered prayers, for family and friends, for His provision, and for all He has done among us here at Tabs.

· You might want to say sorry for something in your life or for Tabs and ask for God’s forgiveness and healing.

· It might be choosing to pray blessings over others in the church, or speaking words of encouragement into situations you know about. It could mean celebrating the ways you’ve already seen God at work in Penarth and asking Him to do even more.

· You might want to pray with a family member, a neighbour, or a friend from church offering this season of prayer to God together. Or you could take a walk through town and simply thank God for our community, our schools, our shops, and our neighbours.

This is a week for fresh beginnings, setting our posture before God with gratitude, openness, and expectation that He is going to move among us.
